National Arts Standards

The Arts (Music, Visual Art, Theatre and Dance are some of the only academic subjects with National Standards that have been widely accepted and adopted nationally. The majority of the United States arts program curricula are based on these guiding principles and are designed based on the core principles of Creating, Performing, Responding and Connecting. 

The Connecticut State Department of Education has adopted the NCAS Standards and encourages all districts to structure arts programs to meet these standards: CSDE Guidelines at CT.GOV
